Working in the Shadows - Informal Employment in Ethiopia

The report focusses on important as-
pects of informal work and income in-
cluding work security, income inequali-
ty and gender pay gap and examines
the extent to which informal house-
holds are covered by social security pro-
visions. It then looks at organisational
issues from two angels. It analyses the
types of organisations the informally
employed are organised and inquires
on motives for organizing and satisfac-
tion with group membership. It further
investigates the views of the informally
employed on trade unions and their in-
terest and readiness to enter into a co-
operation with them.
