FES’s Feminism Lab in Ethiopia launched: Building a Strong, Inclusive Feminist Future

FES‘s Feminism Lab in Ethiopia has been launched last week, creating an intergenerational and cross-sectoral platform dedicated to advancing a progressive feminist vision for Ethiopia. This exciting new forum aims to foster meaningful collaboration, build powerful alliances, and collectively shape the future of women's rights and empowerment in the nation.

The Feminism Lab is more than just a platform; it's a dynamic space where diverse voices converge to tackle the unique challenges facing women in Ethiopia. By bringing together feminist experts and gender justice advocates from different age groups and sectors, the initiative seeks to bridge gaps, share insights, and develop a unified approach to feminist issues.

Participants actively engaged in crucial discussions including identifying and understanding the most pressing issues impacting women across Ethiopia, contextualising Ethiopian feminism by exploring what "Ethiopian feminism" means within the country's current social, cultural, and political landscape, and by connecting voices across generations and sectors to begin the vital work of building collective solutions.

This movement marks a significant step forward in the journey towards driving gender justice and promoting women's political and economic empowerment in Ethiopia. As the platform continues to grow, it promises to amplify diverse feminist voices and drive meaningful change.
