Women in Trade Unions

A discussion forum was held on 3 March 2023 for women committee members from the 9 Trade Union Federations and the Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU) on how to empower women to take leadership roles and their work within the trade unions. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Rose Omamo, Vice President of Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers from Nairobi and Ms. Faith Okoya, member of the Amalgamated Union of Kenya Metal Workers from Mombasa. The necessity to ratify ILO Convention C-190, Gender Based Violence at the work place and the experience of Kenyan TUs were discussed. Germany passing the Supply chain due diligence law and what it means to workers in Ethiopia was also intensively discussed during the forum.
