International Women's Day: Women in Action

FES in collaboration with the German Embassy, ILO and Addis Ababa University marked the celebration of International Women’s Day on 9 March 2023 with the theme ‘Women in Action’. Guest of honors H.E. Mr. Stephan Auer, German Ambassador and Mr. Alexio Musindo, Director, ILO CO Addis Ababa highlighted the need for gender equality for development, democracy and a social just society and the work that lies ahead to achieve it.

During the event 11 women from different society levels and professional sectors talked about their professional experiences, the challenges and their experiences at work.

Over 100 female and some male university students interacted with women leaders from various sectors on their experiences, success and the challenges that they have faced and face. The platform gave the students a chance to network, get inspired and have a motivated exchange about career planning. In addition, the students learned to show respect towards the tremendous achievements of the female professionals, their experiences and work.
