Employment Generation in Africa

In the workshop organized by FES Ethiopia on 26 January 2023 at Radisson Blu Hotel, the overall picture of employment generation, challenges in Africa, good practices and recommendations for employment creation in Sub-Saharan Africa were presented by Assoc. Prof. Paul Kwame Nkegbe and Mr. Benjamin Musah Abu.

The workshop comes as a result of six country studies conducted around the continent by FES offices that showed how the past two decades of economic growth have been generally impressive but with a downside of jobless growth. The studies highlighted how unemployment and under-employment remain key challenges and they presented the different interventions governments have taken to tackle the issue as well as the studies propose additional interventions to create sustainable growth including decent jobs.
