Research Workshop on "Enforcement of Human Rights in Ethiopia: Old and New Challenges"

FES in collaboration with the School of Law of Addis Ababa University (AAU) hosted a one-day research workshop assessing human rights-related developments in Ethiopia.

The AAU School of Law had previously initiated a research endeavor to unpack challenges for human-rights in Ethiopia. This workshop brought to light findings and engaged relevant actors in deliberations with the hope to further augment the studies and inform policy-decisions. Six research papers were presented and discussed. Representatives of different stakeholders involved in human rights works attended the event.

There has been a visible attempt by concerned bodies, including government institutions, to find comprehensive solutions to the complex human rights challenges. This includes reforming existing legal and administrative provisions. Researchers set-out to analyze various aspects of human rights laws, ranging from identifying the gaps in the existing legal frameworks to  accommodate emerging challenges, and, ultimately, to facilitate the promulgation of new provisions.
