30 years of FES in Ethiopia

Celebrating our 30th Anniversary, welcoming the new Country Representative...

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is the oldest political foundation in Germany working as a non-profit institution based on the ideas and basic values of social democracy. The Foundation carries out its activities within a network of 100 offices worldwide in close cooperation with local and international partners. It advocates for the promotion of democracy, social justice, and economic transformation through the support of policy processes, political education, as well as by supporting international dialogue. FES Ethiopia exists since 1992, when its work and mandate were formalized through a bilateral agreement with the Ethiopian government. This year FES-Ethiopia celebrated its 30th anniversary at Hilton Hotel on July 21st, 2022.

At the same time, FES took the opportunity of these celebrations to bid farewell to Michael Tröster as Resident Representative. Mr. Michael Tröster has been part of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung since November 2019. His tenure came at a time of severe global as well as national change. FES thanks Michael in particular for his contribution to gender justice and national dialogue in Ethiopia. Michael Tröster’s successor will be Susanne Stollreiter, a long-time FES-employee with international experience in Africa as well as Latina America.
