Internship

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Ethiopia offers internships to Ethiopian, German and other students and recent graduates who are interested in learning about the work of a political foundation and have an affinity to our working lines.

Interns will have the opportunity to learn about and participate in the process of designing and organizing policy dialogue activities, conduct rapid and practical research on issues and working lines, acquire skills in coordinating and organizing events, and analyze public policy issues. Interns may also have space for the development of their own ideas, and may even carry out a separate (e.g. thesis) project, as long as the project and ideas fit within the thematic axes of the foundation.

The intern may propose the duration of the internship, according to the following criteria:

  • The minimum duration of an internship is 3 months.
  • The maximum duration is 6 months.

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate competently in English (orally and in writing).
  • Final year undergraduate or master's degree students in economics, sociology, political science, communication or related fields.
  • Professionals who have recently graduated and are looking to broaden their professional experience.

Application

Those interested in internships should note that the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is not an academic research institution, but a foundation that promotes policy dialogue among diverse actors. Interns are therefore expected to have an interest in our areas of work, a favorable attitude towards teamwork and a commitment to carrying out the activities, which include administrative and logistical work.

To apply, it is necessary to send to the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung the following documentation in English:

  • Motivation letter in which you specify the reason and purpose of your internship, in addition, in which you list your thematic interests (maximum two pages).
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Photocopy of the last degree or diploma obtained.

Inquiries from potential candidates and internship applications should be sent to the following e-mail address: info.ethiopia(at)fes.de at least 10 weeks before required internship period.
